Benefits Of A Small Boutique Gym

What Is A Boutique Gym?

A boutique gym, or studio, is much smaller compared to your typical box gym. In most cases, a boutique gym has one owner, who has gone off on their own with a more specialized fitness focus. Some studios will focus on yoga or pilates, while others may specialize in only one-on-one coaching or small group training

The Benefits Of A Small Boutique Gym

Most fitness professionals that go off on their own and open a boutique gym do so because they want to offer a more personalized approach to support people’s fitness journeys. As a result, boutique gyms have less members than your typical box gym, which can be a positive because there is no overcrowding. In a small boutique gym, you can get to know other members and become part of a community of driven individuals who continually encourage each other.  Small boutique gyms also have access to specialized gym equipment that you might not find in commercial gym settings. For example, at Thor Strength we have access to various specialty bars that allow people with different needs to perform compound movements that might not be accessible in other spaces.

They Prioritize You

When you step into a boutique gym, one of the coaches or the owner will greet you. They’ll take as much time with you to learn your previous fitness experience and current goals. Then, they’ll go through a screening process with you to analyze how you’re currently moving. With all of this knowledge, the coach will be able to construct the optimal program for you.

Not only is the program tailored towards you, but the coaches will get to know you on a more personal level. The goal for us coaches is to make sure that you are aware that we are a team. We’re here to guide you, while listening to your concerns. You’re there to provide feedback and allow yourself to be pushed when you are ready.

Boutique gyms often work with small groups. These groups shouldn’t be too large, to the point where you feel like you’re not getting any attention. But this will allow you to build the confidence to determine what needs to be pushed and what needs to be cut back or changed.

They Are Less Crowded

Another great quality is that these gyms have a schedule for training groups and teaching classes. And there is a limit to the number of participants for each. This eliminates the feeling of being overcrowded and dealing with having to change your routine because someone is using the equipment you were going to use. Since there are fewer members, you don’t have to worry about taking your time on any given exercise if you need longer breaks or more instruction to learn something new.

They Aren't Flashy

Maybe the big gyms are intimidating. There’s no privacy. They’re covered with mirrors. The same playlist is on repeat and you’ve heard the same song 10 times already. They may just not be the right environment for you.

Fortunately, boutique gyms are built to make an individual’s experience positive and encouraging. Not every studio is covered in mirrors,There’s less people. And most of the time, the people around want to see you succeed. They probably even know your name and want to cheer you on! What’s even better is that if you want to listen to something different, just say so! We want you to have the best experience, so why not do it with your favorite artist or playlist in the background.
